The Italian American Women’s Association invites Senior Class female students to apply for its Fifteenth Annual Italian Heritage Scholarship.

Requirements are as follows, and are the responsibility of the Applicant to provide same prior to the deadline:

Uno (1):

Applicant must be a female whose Mother or Father is of Italian heritage, and who is currently a Senior in high school.

Due (2):

Applicant must show leadership qualities, and must do well academically.

Tre (3):

Applicant must submit an essay of at least 200 words by the deadline, explaining all of the above. In addition to writing about her ancestry and its importance in her life, her academic and leadership abilities, and her involvement in community activities, or part-time work, she must also write about her goals and aspirations. This is an important factor in scoring.

Quattro (4):

It is very important that Applicant also submit two (2) signed recommendations; one from a teacher, or counselor, and one from an administrator, stating why she would be worthy of such an award. Applicants who do not submit signed recommendation letters will be deemed ineligible.

Cinque (5):

Applicant must arrange to have school submit official transcripts to include Grades 9, 10 and 11 (with final G.P.A.) before the deadline.

Sei (6):

Upon graduation, Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary college or university to receive the monetary scholarship. After enrollment in a college / university, a check will then be issued to the winner(s), and to the college or university of her choice, at The I.A.W.A. Student-of-the-Year Scholarship Dinner.

Sette (7):

ALL INFORMATION MUST BE DOUBLE-SPACED. ABOVE ALL, APPLICANT SHOULD BE WELL-PREPARED IN FOLLOWING THE ABOVE CRITERIA, AND IN GIVING HERSELF PLENTY OF TIME IN SUBMITTING HER APPLICATION TO THIS ASSOCIATION TO MEET THE DEADLINE. IF ANY APPLICATION DOES NOT FOLLOW THE CRITERIA, OR IS RECEIVED AFTER THE DEADLINE, THERE WILL BE NO CHOICE BUT TO DISQUALIFY THE APPLICANT.

If the Applicant is chosen as the “Student-of-the-Year”, she and her high school Principal will be notified. The Applicant and Principal will then be invited to The I.A.W.A.’s Student-of-the-Year Scholarship Dinner.
